The CO2-Calculator is now ready for integration with other Websites
Hamburg, 23 February 2009
The latest results of the climate researchers led by American Christopher Field of Stanford University were once more alarming. In recent years CO2 emissions in developing countries have increased three times as fast as at the end of the last century. "In the future we have to do something about the environment which goes far beyond everything we have seriously considered on the basis of simulations until now,” Field warned.
As climate change is a global problem, it is becoming ever clearer that German citizens must also contribute to reducing emissions. However, individual action first requires understanding where CO2 emissions come from. Towards this purpose, the company Greenmiles recently developed an online CO2-calculator according to the most modern Internet standards. A study by the Federal Environmental Agency shows that all citizens can use the calculator to quickly and easily obtain a summary of their individual carbon footprint in the areas of heat, electricity, transportation, nutrition, and consumption.
At the end of the calculation the user can download a fresh table with everyday tips for CO2 prevention as a pdf file. The knowledge acquired makes direct action possible. Additionally, in contrast to conventional calculators, the input is able to be stored and can thus be updated over time.
Due to the demand, the CO2-calculator is now ready to be integrated as a pop-up window on other websites. Only by working together can we raise awareness about the causes of emissions and thereby lead to their reduction.
