TÜV Assessment 2010: Greenmile’s balance is truly green
Hamburg/ Essen, April 24, 2010
The TÜV does not only withdraw polluting vehicles from circulation but also grants the sought-after TÜV-certification on projects that contribute to global climate protection. Since its start of business, Greenmiles mandates TÜV-Nord Cert GmbH to check the realisation of the emission reductions as commissioned by its clients. The most recent assessment swiftly revealed: Everything is in best eco-order at Greenmiles.
A certification like this is important to show our clients that their contribution to climate protection is in fact realised. Greenmiles is exclusively using emission reduction projects that are approved by the government and satisfy the rules of the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism). Therefore, the projects are not only in line with the respective criteria of the TÜV standard, but also comply with the even more demanding guidelines of several European countries such as Great Britain. All of the emission reduction credits that Greenmiles purchased have been cancelled at the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) at the Federal Environment Agency.
One can please the environment with a TÜV-certified offset of CO2-emissions – however, a much bigger favour is the consistent abatement of emissions. It remains to hold true: Offsetting should be the last option when it comes to the environment – first of all, companies and individuals should use their best endeavours to identify and avoid behaviour that is harmful to the environment.
