That's how the CO2 - calculator works
Greenmiles' carbon calculator helps you calculating your personal CO2 emissions. They depend on your housing and living conditions, your mobility behaviour and your consumer buying habits. The calculation itself is not a secret science, but it is based on a study of the Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt) "The Carbon Balance of a Citizen" („Die CO2-Bilanz des Bürgers“). Note that the calculator thus basis on data for Germany. The basics are, however, true for other countries, too. We are already working on country specific calcutors.
By following the steps of the calculator through each area and by indicating your consumption and behaviour you will receive your personal CO2 footprint. Your own personal value can eventually be compared to the value of a person with an average CO2 footprint.
You will receive help and information to the different areas automatically by moving your mouse over the questions. The bar chart on the right hand side will accompany you through the calculations, showing your personal emissions in comparison to average national emissions.
After indicating all necessary data, you will receive tips and ideas to improve your personal CO2 balance. You can avoid, reduce or compensate emissions. Maybe you can put some measures into practice. The climate would be pleased, if you did.
